A daily habit

I decided to start writing a lot more actively than in the past. The aim is to improve writing skills as well as try and create a more cohesive set of ideas that can ultimately lead to a better understanding of my field.
The plan is to write every day for at least 30 minutes, something, anything, mostly though should be related to design and the built environment in some way.
So here it goes...

urbanism defined

Following a very interesting lunchtime presentation by the chairman of the Academy of Urbanism , a question that was asked stayed with me. How do we define Urbanism.
The very skilled answer that came from John Thompson was that urbanism is space-place-life.
This is a very simple but powerful triptych that can be analysed and interpreted in a variety of ways. urbanism is the place created by defining space that affects life. And by affecting i mean change, generate, or even destroy.
Is it just another "tag" that defines a specific trend. if we accept the interpretation as space -place-life this by default makes all architects urbanists.

what are we doing here ? ....

language : Greek and English
location : London, Athens ( and occasionally at various locations around the world)
purpose: i just created the account so i can post a reply to someone else but it feels like it might just be the right time to start a blog that we can put down our thoughts, experiences and ideas in a more articulated form.
As architect this will be all things architecture which means anything and everything will be examined, thought and commented on.
Thats all for now
Back to my masterplan
